Sarah Buell Dowling is an award-winning artist and illustrator. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, she continued her post-graduate studies at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, and with numerous nationally recognized artists in Savannah, Georgia.

Recognitions for Sarah’s art include awards from the Georgia Watercolor Society, The Southern Watercolor Society, The Alabama Watercolor Society, the Jekyll Island (Georgia) Art Association, the Glynn Art Association (St. Simons Island, GA), and the Mount Dora (Florida) Art Association.

Sarah has illustrated three books and several children’s toys. Her most popular book, Flip Along Fun, won the Mom’s Choice Award designating it among the best of family-friendly products. One of the toys she illustrated received the Toys of the Year award from Parenting Magazine; another was chosen as Children’s Book of the Month Club Main Selection.

Ms. Dowling also has designed whimsical stuffed animals and women’s wear. Her creations have been featured in numerous publications, including House Beautiful, Town and Country, Mademoiselle, Vogue, and USA Today.

Sarah lives in St. Simons Island, Georgia with her husband, two of their three children, two dogs, two finches and a hamster.

 

Artist’s Statement

I believe I was made to create. I can’t help it!

I long to awaken the sensitive part in each person - that small place in all of us that is still vulnerable beneath the busyness, the slick and the cool.

I hope my art, in some small way, illuminates the way in which the Creator’s hand touches us -
